Travelling with young kids? Renovating an old house? We’ve been there…

It was January 2005. We were a family of four with our third child on the way. We had just moved to the house at 3015 West 11th Avenue, two houses in from Carnarvon Street in the desirable Kitsilano (“Kits”) neighbourhood of Vancouver, Canada. The first thing we updated was our two-bedroom guest suite, located downstairs from us. It was time to remodel the rest of our house. So, just like many guests who have stayed in our luxury furnished accommodations during their own home renovations, we moved into our own guest suite.

As every square inch of our three storey 1926 character home was replaced, we enjoyed family meals at home in the guest suite’s roomy galley kitchen. We played board games and snuggled by the cozy new fireplace in the living room. We had all the comforts of home in our new two-bedroom abode.

Our renovations were completed by the time the pink and purple hues of hummingbird’s mint began to show. Since then we’ve updated the two-bedroom guest suite, upgrading the kitchen and installing a new gas fireplace. Plus we’ve built the two-bedroom coach house in our private backyard.

Over the years our friends and family from around the corner and throughout the world have stayed with us. Grandparents. Aunts and Uncles. Filmmakers. Guests travelling on business or for a luxury family holiday have rated Avalon Guest Suite & Coach House as a top Vancouver accommodation. Today we offer luxury furnished home rentals for stays of 30+ days.
