Vancouver furnished home rental guests who have never been to our city are surprised to learn that there are sandy beaches and warm ocean water (at least in July and August). Avalon Guest Suite & Coach House is ten short blocks from the beach—an easy thirty-minute walk—and it’s common for guests to head to Kits Beach to watch the sunset.
Kitsilano Beach, commonly referred to as “Kits Beach“, is a sandy beach that runs along Cornwall Avenue, starting at the north end of Yew Street. The Seawall runs the length of the beach and Canada’s longest outdoor swimming pool Kitsilano Pool is at the west side.
The stretch of beach is wide and there are plenty of places to spread out. The north end of the beach is dog friendly, and it tends to be quieter than the other end of the beach. There’s concession, public washrooms and Boathouse Waterfront Restaurant, a casual seaside eatery. There are tennis courts and plenty of beach volleyball courts onsite. The Seawall path meanders through the beach area, and there are convenient places to rent bikes, here.
Plus there’s City of Vancouver’s own Mobi Bike Sharing Station at 1305 Arbutus Street.
